Where is Medievo Candles located?
My little studio is located in my home in West Fargo, ND.
How did Medievo begin?
It all started with my business partner Gra. The idea began to grow in her mind in 2015 while she was living in Barcelona, Spain. Specifically when she was visiting a tea store located in the South of Spain, Granada. In that cozy, cute and friendly store, Gra realized she wanted to change her life. The ambience of that place, the aromas from the teas around her and the friendly people there, made Gra feel that her life had to change. She no longer wanted that crazy busy routine that most of us are living nowadays. Then, she started to search about aromas and how it really can affect us. Aromas can bring us memories, can make us feel comfortable. Can help us to relax. Moving back to Brazil and still determined to change her life style, Gra started to make scented candles. After studying and learning how to make candles, she felt she had to share it with everyone. So, she started Medievo.
In 2020, Gra started explaining to me how to make candles and how aromas can impact our mood. I always loved a house smelling good. I always got products to make my house smelling cozy. But I quite didn't have the information on how scents can impact us. So, I started making candles (only for myself and some family). I really enjoyed it and then things started to grow and I began to sell my creations. Medievo showed to me that I have a creative side in me that I thought I did not have. I really love to create. Blending the fragrances, getting the concepts about the candles and bringing all of this to people's homes is just amazing.

Each one of our candles were created inspired by our happy memories, or by things and people we love. We want that, when lighting our candles, you are transported to places that inspired us and then it will bring beautiful memories and good feelings to you.
What does the name Medievo mean?
It comes from medieval times when candles became widely used due to unavailability of fuel oil for lamps. Candles were very popular throughout Europe in the Middle Ages. At first they were mainly made from solidified animal fat but eventually, beeswax became more common. Nowadays candles are mainly used as a decorative/aromatherapy item while their manufacturing has been improved using non-toxic and eco-friendly ingredients such as vegetable wax.
